Books, books, books everywhere! Novels, dictionaries, art catalog, coffee table books, magazines, comics, children books, old encyclopedias, you name it, they most likely have it. I love going to through piles of books, I never knew what I'm going to discover.

To get the best value for the old books bargain hard, offer half the price of what the seller offer you. When you don't get the price you want, walk away like you don't need the books (use your best poker face). The seller will most likely to yell or chase you to give you the price. But if they didn't don't be in despair, move to the next stall, you will probably find similar books.

A Kid in a Candy Store

Location: Pasar Mayestik
Wether: Cloudy & Drizzling

"Oooh...look at all those range of colors!" "Aaaw...what a cute little buttons!" Every time I visit this store in pasar Mayestik I found myself ogling over stuff. Rows after rows of buttons, ribbons, strings, zippers, lace, feathers, beads, glitters and craft tools. Even though I'm armed with shopping list I always ended up buying stuff that falls into "I don't know what I'm going to do with this but I must have it" category.

The strangest things about the store were all the salesperson are male with a certain ethnic background and there were no price tags! With more than 2000 items I think they just randomly put a price on my purchase. When I asked one of the guy how does he know the price of everything he just looked at me and simply said, "We have a system." and refused to explain further.

Valentine it's not about the gift, it's the joy you receive when you give to others. When you become blessings for the benefit of others. Happy giving!

Final layout

Designing a layout is a never ending process if you let it, sometime you just have to put your feet down and say enough is enough, otherwise you spend too much time on a layout. Time frame is crucial when you have 162 pages! Tips #23 Keep yourself sane: Don't be overwhelmed with the amount of tasks needed to be done to complete a project. Focus on what you can accomplish today & celebrate small victories in a big way! :-)

The only draw back of doing a layout by hand is when accident happened: a cat spilled a bottle of water on my drawings and ruined 11 pages! Aaaargh....all those works down the drain...but wait! I don't have to redo the whole thing. I could just do redo the damaged parts, scan them and put them together with Photoshop. Voila! I absolutely love the look!

Super Card Sale

Ingredients:

Kids with colorful imagination :-)

Kid Pix

Color papers

Photo papers

Store bought regular envelopes

A color printer (any brand will do, I use Epson)

Directions:

1. Let the kids explore & draw with Kid Pix (so far I've never met a kid who despise Kid Pix)
2. Format drawings to JPEG (File>>Export>>Save as type: JPEG)
3. Print on glossy photo paper & cut.
4. Lightly coat white glue on the back and stick it on a folded color paper.
5. Jazz up envelopes with clipart or stickers, or ribbons, or cut outs magazine pictures or...anything goes, the sky is the limit. :)

Giving heart

Bitterballen, speculaas, klompen, windmolen, oliebollen, Sinterklaas & Zwarte Piet... off we went to Christmas Around the World by IES Orphanage  to represent Netherlands. Who could've thought you can go around 9 countries (Japan, China, India, Slovakia, Netherlands, USA, South Africa, Italy & Phillipine)  in less than 3 hours? 200 kids from 3 orphanages did on a cloudy Sunday. Thank goodness for a windy day otherwise the windmill will not work.

It was a great day. Everybody had a great time even baby Zoe! I thought we were the blessing for the orphanage kids, but turned out that it was the kids who gave us joy &  happiness. Now I understand the true meaning of the phrase "It is in the giving that you will receive". Happy giving!
