Love Is In The Air

You can tell how long a couple been together from their body language. The girl did most of the talking while the guy stared and smiled at her lovingly with his puppy-love-eyes. He just couldn't take his eyes and hands off her. In the ten minutes it took me to sketch this they kissed five times. They made a lousy unfinished, humid, hectic and hot airport lounge into the most romantic place on earth. I'd say they only have been together in less than three months. ;-)

Quick Draw Mc Draw

Airport lounge is the best place to sharpen your drawing skill. Dena & I were busy doing a live quick sketching of different people in front of us when an Arab guy sat next to her asked her, "Excuse me, can you draw me?" Totally ruined her concentration. I had to give the guy a credit for a creative pick up line. Right Dena? Or not.

Conversation In Gili T

Me: What is Smirnoff Ice?
Dena: It's a two percent alcohol drink.
Me: A two person alcohol?
Dena: It's practically a non-alcohol drink. Fruity taste
Me: Hahaha...
Dena: ???

WYSIWYG

On a fast boat to Gili T a scruffy guy sat right in front of me. Backward baseball cap, loose t-shirt, Rip & Curl short, big black backpack. Must be those surfer who talk in funny short sentence. So I thought.  Fifteen minutes later he took out a vintage hard cover book from his backpack and started reading for the rest of the two hour ride. What you see is not always what you get.

Bookworm

Dena & I went to a bookstore in Seminyak, Bali to find a perfect book for our I-don't-want-to-do-anything-days in Gili T, gave ourselves a twenty minutes search, only to find that we both picked The-Hundread-Year-Old-Man Who Climbed Out Of The Window And Dissapeared. How awesome! So of course I made her look for another book. Not because I'm an authoritarian parent, but I had the book first. Fair and square. Plus I live longer than her. That should count for something.

Painted Wallet

I adore children's drawings. There is something delightful about a child's doodle. I was in a little store in Bali when I spotted this pouch with a whimsical drawing on it. I just had to have it. When the lady told me the price I almost cancelled my purchase but then I saw the tag. Painted wallet. Bali Street Kids Project. I am sold.

Traffic Jam

I love handmade items. Anything not mass produced is a product of love and passion. Kou Cuisine is a little heaven in Ubud, Bali. Their little store is so adorable & charming. Their handmade jams are so delightful. Mango. Passion Fruit & Tangerine. Grape & Buni. Pineapple & Guava. Strawberry & Banana. Apple Cinamon. Milk Caramel.

Conversation In Bali

Me: What are we gonna do today? Elephant ride?
Dena: Animal cruelty to the max.
Me: Rafting?
Dena: Too tiring.
Me: Water park?
Dena: Too crowded.
Me: Ayana thalasso spa?
Dena: Uhm...what's that?
Me: It's a sea water therapy pool.
Dena: Ooh...okay! Might be good for my lower back.

Bubbly

I love diving with Dena. For forty to sixty minutes I can't nag her or argue with her about this and that and she can't talk back or secretly taping me with her digital camera. Million of words are cut down to a few sign language. Our eyes do all the talking. We just enjoy each other company in a quiet world of bubbles. Keep calm and dive on.

Detour

I was suppose to run my first marathon in Bali but my left ankle didn't agree with my soul. They had a big fight and gave each other a silent treatment. I wished my ankle would tell me sooner because I already booked flight and everything. So I went to Bali anyway, took a fast boat to Gili Trawangan, had an O2 over dose and O2 hang over for four days. My ankle and soul were not best friend yet but they are on speaking terms now. Yay!

Eat, Love & Pay

Four days swaying on board of MV Tarata and bubbling around Komodo National Park. Three days of gobbling in Bali. Four days of unwinding and perfecting the art of doing nothing in Gili Trawangan, an island with no cars or motorcycles. My kind of holiday.

Split Personality

I love moving forward in running. I love moving forward, backward, sideways, upside down, up, down and around in diving. Both require I stay calm at all time. Both require me to focus on and control my breathing. One breath at a time.

Mind Your Head

Two weeks holiday and I thought it would be best to leave Mac at home. Turned out that the holiday unlocked my blogger's block. My head spun with ideas. Good thing I brought my little note and my black marker. Back to basic. Writing & drawing. My hand kept writing and drawing. Not necessarily in that order. I should be on holiday for life.
