Mind Your Manners

One rainy afternoon in a supermarket. A tall young lady, with gorgeous long legs, walking up and down an isle, pointing to this and that, blabbering a monologue of why she needs this and that. She held a tiny wallet. A short and skinny young man right behind her, following her up and down the isles, picking up things she pointed. He carried two bags and a basket. He had a tribal tattoo on his right arm.

Running On Empty

After being sick for a week and took a lot of rest days I thought I could do an hour run today. I struggled from the beginning. Let's quit! You hate running! You can't finish this! You're such a loser! Hello Defeat, long time no see. You're getting uglier than the last time we met! You're such a liar! Running while arguing back and forth with Defeat was hard. But I said what I meant and I meant what I said. An hour run. Not a minute less not a minute more. At the end of my run I felt so dog-tired but Triumphant. Take that Defeat! In running or life the only opponent you have to beat is yourself.

Sick Puppy

They say there are always good things out of every challenging situation you are in. Off the top of my head I can list five bad things about being sick. I have to stop running. I have restless sleep. I have to stay in bed. Everything taste blah. I have no energy. I can only list one good thing about being sick. Being spoiled rotten by loved ones. What else is good about being sick? I need at least five more things to beat the bad things list.

Papillon

"The craving for every new scientific discovery breeds a hunger for greater comfort and the constant struggle to achieve it. All that kills the soul, kills compassion, understanding, nobility. It leaves no time for caring what happens to other people, least of all criminals. Even the officials in Venezuela's remote areas are better for they're also concerned with public peace. It gives them many headaches, but they seem to believe that bringing about a man's salvation is worth the effort. I find that magnificent." Henri Charriere

Birthday Run

Most people would probably party the night away before their birthday. I slept away mine. I was in bed by 7.45pm because I want to run on my birthday. I have no life! Almost 23K in 2:30 on 23/3. Must be my lucky day. Best birthday ever. \(^_^)/

Sleeping Beauty

I sleep in my oversized finisher-tee so I can dream about running. When do you wear your finisher t-shirt?

Looking Down

One lovely breezy afternoon from my balcony. I couldn't believe my eyes. What? Two Indonesian moms with a baby and a little girl were having a picnic in a garden? Not their own private garden but a public garden in an apartment compound. I hurriedly went down the elevator. I just had to see this up close. Oops! Nannies not Mommies! Too good to be true. I definitely need a new pair of glasses. Or a pair of binoculars.

Three's Company

Sunday long run. Cloudy but humid. Three young ladies running in the opposite of my direction. All were tall and slim and attractive. All wore identical t-shirt. All have long hair. All had make up on. Huh?! I thought I was hallucinating. Nope. All had heavy make up on. Eye shadow, eye liner, blush, lipstick, the whole nine yard. One even had fake eye-lashes. I know it's important to look good when one runs, but a full make up? Really?

Out On A Limb

One cloudy day. Caught in a bumper to bumper traffic. Moving oh so snail like. Three people sat near a curb of a sidewalk. Talking. Drinking something. Laughing. Having a time of their life. So envious. The grass is always greener on the other side.

Paper Doll

To play dress up most moms would probably get a store-bought costumes. There are mind boggling selections of costumes out there. I mean why would go through all that trouble, right? But this awesome mom understands that there are a lot of learning opportunities in creative play: investigating, observing, planning, measuring, inventing, figuring out how to turn paper to dress. Their websiteInstagram are oh so adorable!

Parenthood 101

As a parent I find my brain and my heart fight all the time. My heart wants to protect my daughter all the time at any cost. My brain wants my daughter to be able to cope and persevere with whatever life throw at her. My poor mouth always caught in the middle.

Mac Love

My old white Mac is a hand me down from Dena. She put a Jesus sticker that looks like one of those stained glass decoration on a window of a church. She positioned the sticker so Jesus' head is right on the apple. The logo gives Jesus the Holy light. When she got a new Mac I asked her if she wanted the peel-off sticker. She said, "Naah, you keep it, Mom. You need Jesus more than I do". That was a compliment, right?

Wacky Wed

What's eating Wednesday? It's been acting weird all day. Irritating. Annoying. Did it wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Oh, well! Tomorrow is only a day away.

Universal Language

One rainy days in KDM. Two boys from KDM just sat quietly together, silently observed a group of young boys who volunteered for art & craft activities. The volunteer boys only knew how to communicate in English while the KDM boys only speak Bahasa Indonesia. KDM boys just shook their heads every time the volunteer boys asked them questions. Then one volunteer boy broke the language barrier between them by showing an origami dragon. Things changed instantly. They started making origami things together and spoke a new kind of language that all understood: Art.
